Jessica Wicksnin

Web and Tech Enthusiast in Seattle

Technologies I currently work with: React.js, Nuclear.js, Immutable.js, Backbone.js, Karma.js test runner and Chai.js testing language, Flow.js type checker, Python, PHP, MySQL.  My position is considered more front-end, but in a given week I might write any of the above, so I could really be described as a “full-stack” developer.

In addition to web development and JavaScript, I’m really excited about chatbots (you can see one I built by visiting AnswerDash’s Facebook Page), women and diversity in tech, and learning more about natural language processing.

My strengths:  The biggest reasons I’ve been able to be successful as a developer as a career-changer are my ability to learn quickly, my passion for learning, my flexibility in work style and process, ability to listen to others and communicate in a positive way (recently earning me the “most pleasant engineer I’ve ever worked with” accolade from my manager), and eagerness to collaborate with others. Having a keen eye for detail (recently found the one missing screw out of 400 square feet of new decking at my house – it’s pretty much the same when reviewing feature branches at work) helps, too.
